Naga Kandiah Raises Concerns Over Families of Migrant Care Workers Facing Separation

The cases have caused serious concern because children are settled in UK schools and communities, while parents face the prospect of choosing between continuing essential care work and being separated from their families. The article also highlights concerns that longer proposed settlement periods could encourage migrant care workers to leave the UK, potentially worsening staff shortages in social care.
Naga Kandiah of MTC Solicitors said:
“Migrant care workers in the UK are being placed in an impossible position: [to not] continue essential work or risk being separated from their children or partners.”
He described the situation as “an unfair choice between vital jobs in the social care system and long periods of separation from family”, adding that these workers care for vulnerable people while the rules can prevent them from caring for their own families.
