Naga Kandiah Helps Sierra Leonean Man Secure Right to Remain Under Windrush Scheme

The Guardian reports that Samuel Jarrett-Coker, 61, has finally been granted the right to remain in the UK after almost 50 years of uncertainty. He arrived from Sierra Leone in 1976, aged 13, and has spent virtually his entire life in Britain. He has four British children and seven British grandchildren. For decades, Jarrett-Coker said he repeatedly contacted the Home Office to resolve his status, but his documents were never properly returned or updated. After his British partner died in 2023, he also faced the risk of losing his home because he could not prove his right to rent.
Naga Kandiah of MTC Solicitors said:
“For almost 50 years Samuel has carried the unbearable weight of uncertainty, facing the threat of homelessness and deportation and the anguish of being torn apart from his British family.”
He added that the decision finally gives Samuel “the security, stability and dignity he has been denied for almost five decades.”
